Creation Care

O Lord, how manifold are your works!
In wisdom you have made them all;
the earth is full of your creatures.

Christ Church Cathedral is committed to the ongoing work of caring for God’s creation by practicing environmental stewardship in our own Cathedral operations, by encouraging our members to do the same in their personal lives and workplaces, and by presenting practical ways for people to be involved.

The urgency of the climate and ecological crisis calls for a prophetic response. Our Gospel affirms that God in Christ loves the whole of creation, not only human beings, and that God pronounced the world “very good” (Gen. 1:31), and gave to us humans the task to “till and keep” the Earth (Gen 2:15) as stewards and caregivers rather than owners (Ps. 24:1).
